The Zambezi river is justifiably considered one of the finest big water runs in the world. Boasting great kayaking, big waves and world class rafting.Our adventure begins at the base of Victoria Falls.  A designated UNESCO site and your playground for the next week.There is nothing like the fun and adventure of big whitewater!  The eddy lines are wide and there are copious quantities of fun waves to surf.  Warming up on a milder stretch, we will work with you to hone your skills to ensure you enjoy this river and its whitewater, whether you are a kayaker, rafter or want to experience an inflatable kayak, this river has something for everyone. Our journey is far more than just kayaking.  We provide delicious meals and the warm African hospitality of our guides rivals none. At the end of a memorable trip, a spectacular helicopter flight extracts you from the gorge. Providing a lifetime opportunity to view wildlife at close range, the rapids you have just navigated and the shear impressive expanse of Victoria falls from the air.


Day 1:  Arrive in Livingston, Zambia. You will be met at the airport.  We will have time to explore Victoria Falls,  Relax, acclimatize and meet the rest of the crew. Our trip will officially begin this evening at sunset on the Lady Livingston. While cruising the upper  Zambezi, we will relax and enjoy a drink and snacks whilst viewing hippos and elephants at close range. Stay at Waterfront Hotel.

Day 2:
Our first day on the river takes on the easier rapids of the Zambezi and gives you time to refresh your paddling techniques in the warm water. Instruction on big water paddling helps navigate eddy lines and waves in the days ahead of us. Explore and gain confidence in yourself and the craft you want to use.

Day 3 – 6  The River Journey.   After a hearty breakfast we will head to the put in, for next four days we will experience the multi-day river trip. Putting on at the base of the Victoria Falls provides a spectacular backdrop for our river journey. We load the gear raft and enjoy the splendor of this unique location before heading out into the “worlds greatest whitewater playground”. Rapids of the Day include: “Morning Glory”, “Stairway to Heaven”, “Devils Toilet bowl”, “Gullivers Travels”, “Midnight Diner”,“Commercial Suicide” just to name a few. A Portage in afternoon followed with a float into our white sand beach in time to  watch the sun disappear behind the basalt cliffs and to enjoy our first night in the gorge.

River Day : Tea and Coffee wake ups are wonderful on the river bank. Rapids of the Day include: “Creamy White Buttocks, the “Mothers”  We run the same section we ran on our first day and play some more, yet again hitting “12 B” that famous surf wave. River Day: The river gorge opens out,  that doesn’t mean the rapids get any smaller especially with one of the more technical and exhilarating rapids. We sample a huge adrenaline rush before lunch which is a certain recipe to inspire hunger in order to polish off the freshly prepared salads. Rapids of the Day include: “Open Season” “Chamamba” and “Upper Moemba”. Arriving at another wonderful campsite where we can walk and revisit the beauty of “Lower Moemba” as you enjoy your sundowners and again recount the days tales!

Day 6:  Helicopter out of the Batoka Gorge. If your paddling is thirst is not quenched we  return upstream and paddle the amazing “Upper Moemba” before flying out of the gorge. Ice cold drinks and a scrumptious lunch arrive by
helicopter. After such a memorable trip, there is no better way to finish than with a spectacular half hour  helicopter flight back through the Batoka Gorge. Getting a bird’s eye view of the rapids, we land at Taita Falcon Lodge where we will spend the night perched on the edge of the Batoka gorge above rapid 17. (All meals included)

Day 7:  Many Options Day Dive back to Livingston Relax/Explore : We are happy to recommend various options. Cheetah encounter, swim on the edge of the falls at Livingston Island, or Bungee Jump.

Paddle: Not enough paddling yet? Repeat your favourite section, take in another play day on the Zambezi river.

Fly Out: You wont have had enough but if you need to fly home you can.

Day 8   The Grande Finale: Our last day on the gorge, we can pick and paddle our favourite selection from river. Post trip finale celebration in town.

Day 9:

Return home or stay for another adventure. Time to cruise around town and do that last minute retail therapy before boarding your flight back home.
